Kindergarten Response

The way this kindergarten has been created seems to me, to be for the most part a great thing. Through having a circle where different ages get taught and can wander, befriend, and get to know anyone seems like a great practice for unity. It teaches children not to see boundaries all the time. We're all just living in the same world, doing different things, but together. I think it might possibly be a little bit distracting, but I think since they've grown in the environment, they've learned not be disrupted by others. In my own kindergarten, I remember we would sometimes play with people from other age groups, but most generally not. I wish could have felt comfortable around so many people, that might have affected me to this day.

What is My Sentence

https://vimeo.com/8480171

What is my sentence?
Was I better today than I was yesterday?

My sentence is trying to always be kind and helpful.

Today I was better than yesterday. Instead of being unproductive, I did homework and helped make breakfast for all of my friends. (today being Wednesday.)

Commercials

In this advertisement, we see a man and woman that see one another and suddenly start to undress. You are confused, and then they jump onto each other, and then they transition into sushi.

What I like about this ad is that you don't understand what is going on, you don't even know what the ad is about. Then at the end you're like, oh, I get it now. I like that it has humour. The next time you will see that sushi, you'll think of the ad and want to buy the product.

Key words from Ted Talk.
Why did people care when Joshua Bell played the violin in an arena, but not when he played at the train station.
3 means of persuasion: Logos (logic), ethos (reputation), pathos (emotional connection.)

Chevy Commercial

They make it somewhat emotional by making it sentimental, through telling about the generations who've had these cars before them. They are showing through all these people who work a lot with their cars, that they will last forever. There is patriotic music in the background to indicate that it's for Americans.

How to Pick Your News

When elders hear that you can pick your news, they feel it's odd considering that before everything was written in physical copies. Everything was forced on us.
Sometimes the news aren't reliable. They might be tainted by media cooperations and corruption. It is important to go back to get the original news that hasn't been affected.
Check a few times a day, but not every minute. Let things unfold in time.
You must know how to separate fact from opinion. Look for words like, think, likely, etc.
Make sure your news is supported and legitimate before spreading it.

I think a big idea from this clip is to be aware that not everything on the news is completely true. We need to have techniques to figure out when something has been altered and when it is true fact. We can't just blindly believe everything we read.

You are what you read

What does it mean to be literate/illiterate?
It means to not be able to analyze writing and appreciate it properly.

How do our reading experience shape who we are?
Reading often shape people into who they are, because in books, there are so many themes and mind stretching ideas that make us understand things related to life. These things affect us and inspire us to become different people.
